Day 86 – Leap Level

Team up with Viking and friends. Dash, crash and rocket jump your way through an increasingly difficult set of procedural challenges involving tons of bad guys and deadly obstacles in Leap Level!

Indies are often hidden gems, and it is one of the best feelings when you discover a game that has very few downloads and is brilliant. This is definitely the case with Leap Level. Despite the fact that this is only Level Two Beards’ second game, it plays like it has come from an established studio.

While most runner games become repetitive after a few goes, this game has randomly generated obstacles, so no two run throughs are ever the same. This is an extremely sophisticated mechanic which I was truly surprised to see in this game; it is definitely a defining factor in the game’s success.

The graphics are fun, with a 2-D design complete with shadows making this game feel truly unique. Each ‘antagonist’ if you will, almost has a different personality, all attacking you in different ways and making you think about each move you make if you want to survive and reach further.

With a runner game being mostly designed for casual play, progression is not expected, however this game does give some extras, with the opportunity to purchase new characters to play as. While these do not change how you play or give you any kind of boost, they do all have cool designs and each brings a new appearance and style.
