Day 74 – Last Day on Earth: Survival

Last Day on Earth is a free MMORPG zombie survival strategy game, where all survivors are driven by one target: stay alive and survive as long as you can and shoot walking dead zombies. There is no place left for friendship, love and compassion. A deadly plague pandemic has turned the world into a dead zone. You can trust only yourself in this post apocalyptic world infested with walking dead zombies.

Much like DayZ (a popular zombie-survival PC game), this game pits you against humans as well as zombies, which certainly makes for an interesting  dynamic. Not only do you have to fight off those blood-thirsty creatures we all know and love, you also have to ensure that your property and life are well projected to avoid theft and destruction from other online players.

The mechanics are fun, with each numerous, separate areas available to explore and an awesome crafting system which makes the grind worthwhile and appealing. My one issue with the multiple zones is that they provide an easy escape. If you are being chased by zombies and your health is low, you can simply run to the edge of the map and be taken back to a menu screen, instantly avoiding death.

The graphics are very good for a mobile game, and do provide a polished but also gritty look which suits the zombie genre. The soundtrack is also great and creates an eery atmosphere which makes lonely situations even more tense and nerve-racking.

Overall, I believe that this game is brilliant for some post-apocalyptic fun on the go, and definitely captures the excitement found in TV shows like The Walking Dead. If you love to imagine how you would cope in a survival situation, this game is for you.
