ANDi’s Strategy, Incubation, Technical Roadmap & Community.
We’ve left it a little too long since our last ANDi Games Ltd update, so for that we want to say sorry. We hope however, once you’ve seen what we have been doing, you’ll forgive us and go back to showering us with love and praise.
May was an exciting month as we changed our strategy for investment and outreach. We’ve pitched to a lot (no really, A LOT) of people since January this year, and after receiving some negative and some positive feedback, we decided to focus in on connecting with the right people to back our company. Many Investment Groups and Angels, they understand the world of startups, but they don’t necessarily understand what it is we are doing as a tech startup operating in the games industry. Therefore, Ben set about researching the 200 top mobile gaming companies in the world, identified the Founders, CEO’s and Senior Executives using LinkedIn and CrunchBase, and started to build himself a hit list. After sending out introduction requests via mutual connections, a new engaged audience began to form around us. Ben’s been sitting meetings with some of the biggest names in the industry and we’ve been rewarded with new insight, advice and thankfully a lot of appreciation for the work we are doing. As a result, the new strategy is proving much more effective and we are ever closer to closing this round of investment allowing us to move forward. Our network is stronger and as a result, so are we.
Our network of advisors is growing daily. We recently updated our About Page to highlight some of the key industry figures who have willingly given their time and support. You can view them all by clicking on the image below.
One thing we have not been short on is support from startup programs and incubators. After successfully joining Wayra back in January, we’ve also now been accepted into the following;
Facebook’s FbStart Global Program – Bootstrap Track
FbStart is a global program designed to help startups build and grow their business. The Bootstrap track is tailored to early stage startups that have just launched their mobile app. As well as free tools and services from Facebook and their third-party partners (inc. Amazon AWS, MailChimp & Adobe), there is a global community of Bootstrapers we can network with and look for inspiration, but additionally we can now connect with Facebook product managers and engineers for support and mentorship.
Google Cloud Platform – Spark Package
Another great win for us was being accepted into the Spark program, run by Google’s GCP (Google Cloud Platform). This has been invaluable as it included a $20,000 credit which can be applied to all Google Cloud Platform and Firebase products, which we use to build the backbones of ANDi. Additionally, they offer office hour mentorship, online training and 24/7 support to program members.
Further to the above, we were also accepted into the Startup Sesame program. Startup Sesame is Europe’s largest alliance of tech events, and gaining membership provides us with free event tickets to their full line up over the next 12 months and speaking opportunities at said events. Joining them has been very exciting and the first event we took advantage of was the Pioneers Festival in Austria held on June 1st and 2nd.

The month of May has been an accelerated learning experience. We’ve some phenomenal growth in our network of industry contacts, helping us day by day to close and finalise pending investment opportunities. Tie in continuous growth across all our metrics; app store conversion sits at 49.1% (40% higher than the industry average), we continue to attract more users to ANDi who keep swiping on and downloading games and enjoying the benefits of their own personalised mobile gaming recommendations.
We’ve been busy of late collecting feedback from users and have since updated our own product roadmap to incorporate some of awesome suggestions and ideas we have been sent. This has led to a refocus and working hard to refactor the core logic ANDi uses for tracking everything in the app. With this information, we’ll be shortly launching our new and improved notification system, which will give better quality actions for uninstalling unused games, playing with and engaging more with existing games and reminding users of games they previously liked within our Discover section.
Alongside the current app, running on Google’s Firebase, we have been designing the next version of ANDi, to run our own API connecting the app to a MySQL database, hosted either with Google or Amazon. Both are being analysed for ease of use and cost before making a final decision. The next version will allow more flexibility when it comes to introducing new features for rewards, competitions and connecting to gaming events. Much sought after features from users and industry feedback. We hear you, and we are working to make these things happen.
And finally, in terms of technical updates, we have also, thanks to Appboy, introduced a news feed page to the app, and are working on initial content before making fully visible to all our users. You’ll be able to digest videos, content from ANDi’s blog and much more, very soon.
If you have any feedback or suggestions for ANDi, please don’t be shy and reach out to us via email@example.com – we’d love to hear your ideas.
Even with all the above happening, we’ve still had time to engage with and grow our online community and presence. From YouTube partnerships, planned eSports events and more game reviews than ever before, we are beginning to build a community of passionate mobile gamers.
We’ve been absolutely thrilled with the recent additions to our Content Team including writers Kassandra Carillo and Michael Blackburn. Both have been busy turning out fantastic reviews over on www.blog.get-andi.com. So personal highlights include Michael’s superb write up of the swashbuckling Pirate RPG; Tempest and Kassandra’s Spells of Genesis review, a game which utilises Bitcoin as an in game currency.
CEO Ben Woolf recently embarked upon a challenge to play and a review a new mobile game every day, for 90 days. There are too many great games he’s discovered to list them all, so make sure you check out the full list so date here.
In case you missed it, we recently partnered up with the YouTube Channel ScottishGeeks. Run by the charismatic Scotsman; Dererk, ScottishGeeks have already released 3 videos partnered with ANDi. The most recent is the unboxing and review of the Freefly VR Beyond headset, from Proteus VR Labs, an ANDi Games Ltd partner. The headset is compatible with both Android and iOS devices and has been voted ‘Best for Gaming’. Check out the video below and make sure you subscribe to ensure you don’t miss future ANDi Games & ScottishGeeks videos.
