Spells of Genesis

Spells of Genesis is out for both iOS and Android as well as playable via your browser here. Developed by EverdreamSoft, a development studio based in Switzerland, and released with support of All4Games,  Spells of Genesis brings players the combined combat system of trading card games and arcade style gameplay. It’s worth pointing out that whilst the game is free to play, there are some in app purchases.

From the start, the game captivated me. The gameplay is unique and different that the only time I stopped playing was when my in-game stamina was low. Even then, with a click of a button, I received more stamina by watching a short video. The game definitely knows how to keep one playing.

The objective is to fight your way through the levels and defeat waves after waves of enemies. Players can go back and replay levels up to three times. With each level defeated, players receive gold. This is then used to buy cards to mix and match and create the ultimate deck.

The only bug that I found was after completing a level. I had defeated all the enemy orbs but the ‘victory’ screen never appeared and my coins weren’t given. After exiting and re-entering the game, I found that I had passed the level. No harm done but it does disrupt the smooth gameplay. This only happened twice so I’m not put off by it.

In addition to its entertaining game play, the game utilizes Bitcoin, a currency that can be sent through the internet from person to person.  With bitcoin, players own in game items outside the game. These items can then be traded and even used in other games. This way of gaming creates an innovative in game currency.
